What impact did world war 2 have on Russia?

After WOrld War two there was a great shift in political super powers. Because after WWII land was being split and being distributed to the Russian powers and the United states. Like when Russia and The United States split Germany into two groups The west wich was the democratic part and the east wich was the communist part. That was also the catalist for the Cold War.
