Usually you have either wood boring bumble bees and or carpenter ants. Termites also do damage to wood.
Bee's leave a distinct circle shaped hole from their stinger, because they tend to nest in those holes in the wood.
Carpenter ants bore in wood as well. They usually like trees though.
Termites bite through any thing wooden and are dangerous in and around the home. If you have them in your home, i suggest you get someone out there immediately to get rid of the pests before they damage your home permanently.
