Move a magnet into a coil, and a voltage is induced into that coil, causing a galvanometer to deflect. Withdraw the magnet, and the galvanometer will deflect in the opposite direction, indicating that the induced voltage depends upon the direction of motion of the magnet.

faraday's law electro magnetic induction states that-when ever conductors cut the flux or flux cuts the conductor ,emf is induced in the conductor.

thats e=-ndr/dt

where

n-no. of turns of the conductor.

dr/dt->rate of change of flux linked with the conductor

-ve sign is due to lenze's law.

Faraday's law deals with the induction of emf in an electrical circuit when the magnetic flux linked with the circuit changes.

Faraday's law of induction

They are stated as follows

1. Whenever magnetic flux liked with a circuit changes, an emf is induced in it.

2. The induced emf exist in the circuit so long as the change in magnetic flux linked with it continues.

3. The induced emf is directly proportional to the negative rate of change of magnetic flux linked with the circuit.

If change in magnetic flux linked with a circuit, that takes place in a time dt.

Rate of change of magnetic flux

= change in magnetic flux / dt

If E is emf induced in the circuit as a result of change,

E proportional to

(-change in magnetic flux / dt)

So, E= - change in magnetic flux / dt

By selecting unit of E, magnetic flux, t in a proper way, we can have K= 1

Now we can write

E= -change in magnetic flux / dt

Negative sign is due to direction of induced emf.
