I could find only a Bradford Mint replica non-firing rifle which was selling on EBay for $100. From what I could gather a non-firing, strictly decorative Colt 45, depending on the condition, can be around that price. The real firing gun copied exactly from Wayne's own Colt 45* can be upwards of $1000 or more if you can find one and it's in good condition.
*The Colt Company made the Colt 45 replica just for Wayne which was exactly like a the late 1800's or early 1900's Colt selling at that time. The only difference was the firing pin (I think). I know little about collectable guns but I know Wayne did, the photo of his Colt was a beauty.
8-10 dollars
Some can be had for under $50. Some of the more expensive ones are several hundred per plate. There is a large variety online, and you can compare and shop for hours. What they are worth for resale depends on the maker and how many were made to begin with. I have one that I bought around the time of his death in 1979. I think it's a Franklin Mint and it's resale value is about $100 at present.
Amazon sells them for 99.99
We've been researching this as well. It looks like anywhere from $1400 - $2000, unless you are in a hurry to sell it, it might be a little less then. Check out gunbroker.com to see some of the same model for sale...
The John Wayne Medal was authorized by the U.S. Congress on May 23, 1979. Only one solid gold medal was made and it was presented to the family of John Wayne in 1980. The medal sold to the public was produced in bronze. If you have one dated 1976 or made of gold it is not a U.S. Mint issued coin. The gold versions of the John Wayne Medal are bronze medals which have been plated by a private company and have whatever value you may place upon them. Bronze versions currently sell for $3 to $7. the only value of Franklin Mint items is the silver value. There is no collectors value for Franklin Mint items. Years ago I had a Franklin Mint gold clad coin group. I was told that the Franklin Mint buy them back any time. They neglect to tell you the items must be in mint shape, untouched and they must have a buyer for your items. Otherwise, the mint does NOT buy items back.
I say $2000 I will buy coins also
