It probably means you've been awarded a GSA MAS (Multiple Award Schedule) contract. GSA "approves" contractors for different GSA "Schedules" and having a contract number gives you the ability to sell direct to any USG buyer (for transactions above $3000). Here is some technical information from GSA's web site:

By placing an order against a GSA Schedule contract, the ordering activity has concluded that the order represents the best value and results in the lowest overall cost alternative to meet the government's needs."
