What age group is a song of ice and fire aimed at?
The series, a Song of Ice and Fire, by George R. R. Martin is an
excellent series. I personally believe it is for more mature
audiences, due to the fact that it contains rape, incest, sex among
other not so innocent things. However, I myself am only 13, and I
love them. When George R. R. Martin originally wrote them, I
believed they were aimed at an 18+ age group, but a lot of the
die-hard fans are a lot younger. If you are mature about it, I
don't really think it matters. I enjoy it, and I'm sure older
people would too. George R. R. Martin is a very talented
author.
On the other hand, it can be quite a difficult book to read.
When I first started I was a bit confused about all the sudden
character changes and who everybody was, but you get used to that
pretty quickly. Also, some of the sentences are a bit complex, and
use language associated with the era in which the book is set, for
example "... He tried to recall all he had learnt of the
Crannogmen, who dwelt in amongst the bogs of the Neck and seldom
left their wetlands. They were a poor folk, fishers and
frog-hunters who lived in houses of thatch and woven reeds on
floating islands hidden in the deeps of the swamp..." A large
percentage contains sentences of this like and sometimes ever
harder to understand.
Taking all these into account, I would say around +15 plus or so
if you are a pretty good reader and have plenty of time to spare.
It all really depends on you.
