The first song Metallica ever wrote is the song ‘Hit the Lights'. It was recorded on 1981 as apart of Metal Mania. A compilation album of local Metal bands. Well that kinda depends on what you mean by famous. Metallica was made "famous" on the west cost and originally looked at by promoters with the demo/single releases of "Power Metal" and "No Life Till Leather" after getting their name out with the song "Hit the Lights" written for the 1982 compilation "Metal Massacre". Afterward they wrote and recorded the original album "Metal Up Your A ss" Later re-named to "Kill Em All". While Kill Em All made 120 on billboard it did not make them the household name they are today. To promote the album they began the "Kill Em All for One" tour with the band "Raven" that ran the US. And were jetted up to a world wide tour with "Venom". That lead to the recording of "...And Justice for All" in Copenhagen, Denmark. ... which started it all! (years and years of work has made them the household name they are today.)
Ok, this guy obviously doesn't know what he's talking about. He put One, which is arguably their most popular song, but One was on the album ...And Justice For All, which was their 4th album. Their first hit song was probably either Hit the Lights or Seek and Destroy, both off the Kill 'Em All album: their very first album.
The album That made Metallica famous was Their self entiteled Album ''Metallica'' also called the black album because of its plain black cover the balbum contained songs such as Enter Sandman ,Nothing else Matters , Sad but true and the unforgiven
