OSPF is a link-state routing protocol that helps Routers exchange IP routes.

OSPF Adjacencies is the established "neighborship" between two OSPF routers in order to make the exchange of routes. In this case, Adjacency means the same as "peering", that the OSPF speakers (routers) are able to "talk" to each other.

What is the first step OSPF and IS-IS routers take in building a shortest path first database?

The first step OSPF and IS-IS routers take in building a shortest path first database is to exchange link-state advertisements (LSAs) or link-state packets (LSPs) with neighboring routers. These packets contain information about the router's directly connected neighbors and the state of their links.

What are two function of the routing engine in juniper?

To build OSPF and ISIS adjacencies. To verify that packets arriving at the router are allowed by any configured firewall filters.

What does OSPF use to reduce the number of exchanges of routing information in networks where large numbers of neighbors are present?

Within a network segment where a router may have several neighbors, such as an Ethernet network, the OSPF routers elect a designated router (DR). Due to the importance of the DR, a backup DR (BDR) is also elected. The DR will centralize communications - all other routers in that segment will only have a full adjacency with the DR and the BDR - and partial adjacencies with all other routers in the segment.

What is ospf throttle?

OSPF LSA throttling helps the dampening of LSA updates in OSPF during times of network instability.

What type of protocol is OSPF?

OSPF is short form of open shortest path first. OSPF is based on linked state routing.

What does the Cisco IOS use to calculate the OSPF cost to a destination network?

OSPF stands for open shortest path first. OSPF is an exterior routing protocol. OSPF uses Path vector routing algorithm.

Why we r using rip instead of ospf?

Could be because your routers do not support OSPF.
