Planters Fasciitis is inflammation of the planters' muscle that extends from the ball of your foot to your heel. It is very painful and may cause your foot to swell extensively. Normally only one foot is inflamed at a time, however, both may get inflamed. You will need to use crutches or a wheelchair. You need to have a doctor's diagnosis, however if you don't have insurance, you can make the diagnosis by checking the bottom of your foot for pain and swelling. The planter muscle needs to tear off from the heel before it will heal. If it doesn't, you will need to have the doctor make an incision to cut it loose. I had planters in both feet and they swelled to 6x's normal size. It takes quite awhile for the feet to heal. I also had to take a small mg. water pill to get the swelling to go down. Don't put constricting socks or shoes on your foot(feet). Wear a loose fitting slipper or loose weave slipper socks if you can get them on without causing excessive pain. Putting pillows under your feet may help alleviate some of the pain. Talk to your doctor about pain medications.
