Polaris (also known as the North Star, Northern Star or Pole Star) is the brightest star in the constellation Ursa Minor.
It is actually a star system, consisting of a main star and five other smaller companions.
The main star (α UMi A) has a spectral type of F7 meaning it is still on the main sequence, and will be classed as an orange dwarf.
