Scrooge is portrayed as a lonely boy, not especially liked by his classmates when a child. As he grew older, he became more and more miserly and misanthropic until he had lost his fiancee and his best friend. He did not change until the Christmas Eve of the story.
Scrooge is initially depicted as a greedy, selfish, and miserly character who values money above all else. However, through the course of "A Christmas Carol," he undergoes a transformation and becomes more benevolent, generous, and caring towards others.
He was kind, generous and merry, and he valued other things in life, besides wealth - the very things his uncle despised him for.
Cold, rude and ignorant of his environment. He considered anyone who is poor as a lazy and not worth life.
