Best Answer

A bowel rupture is when part of the intestinal wall breaks usually either through trauma, such as a car accident, or disease which may cause the bowel to distend to breaking point. It is an extremely painful and dangerous thing to have occur and unless there is prompt surgery to repair the tear, death due to peritonitis and/or septicaemia are inevitable.
