A plural is something that has more than one component, as in grammar. For instance, man is the singular form and men is the plural form of the word. So in a pluralistic society more than one thing is going on. For instance, if we all believed in God as Christians that would be a somewhat singular society. But what we have today is a pluralistic society because there are many different belief systems.

I'd guess that pluralistic research is research where you investigate multiple sources and the discussion of multiple opinions on the same subject
