It depends on what type of crop you are growing, there are many types of fertilizers for flowers, house plants, outdoor, tropical, seasonal, ect.

But i have found they best type of soil or fertilizer is to make a compost (with old peels, skins, rotten fruit and vegetables; things like that), let it decay and set in a gardening area and your soil will be fertile in notime
