A bunch of bananas! A group of bananas is literally called a bunch. Bananas grow in these bunches, and are sold still connected this way. Although we usually see bunches with about 5 bananas in the grocery store, they grow in much larger bunches.

How many bananas grow on one hand?

Yes. The term is used to refer to what most people would call a "bunch" (5-10 bananas connected at the stems). In the banana industry, a "bunch" is used for a much larger cluster of 200 or so bananas, composed of several "hands".

How do bananas broken from their bunch ripen slower than bananas that are still in a bunch?

As fruit ripens it gives off a chemical called ethylene, which in turn accelerates ripening. If a banana is separated from the bunch, it doesn't have access to as much of this gas because it is alone, however bananas in a bunch share the ethylene produced by the others in the bunch, thus speeding up the ripening process.
