A machine shop is where designed parts are fabricated from pieces of metal (or sometimes plastic) on lathes, mills, drill presses and other metal-cutting machines. A "job shop" is a type of machine shop that makes parts for other companies to assemble. Not all parts will be machined. Some will be molded, which is a different process done in another kind of manufacturing plants.
