Answering these questions! My husband is extremely ill and I took him to ER for the third time in 3 weeks, but different hospital and they wanted to hydrate him and release him. He's very weak, severe diarrhea, lost 50 lbs., and if not cared for better will die! I have no where else to go for help, so I'm making my stand. The nurse there said that until the doctor there decided to admit my husband or NOT that all he would get was being hydrated and sent home. I stood up to not only her, but the doctor and told them in no uncertain terms my husband was going to stay there until they found out what was wrong with him and if they didn't they'd be staring down the barrel of Channel 11 news camera. I know that this hospital can't take more bad publicity and of course this made them back down. I know the fight isn't over so I called the CEO of the hospital and told him to look into it and be sure the right words to me would be "we'll keep your husband until we find out what is wrong!" I have retained a lawyer as well. I have the right to call for a Forensic audit re the Administration sector of that hospital through my lawyer and I know that Administration won't like that! If I have to chain myself to the door of the hospital then I will! Just as I was leaving the Triage Nurse that had been so kind to us winked and said, "You looked tired, go home and rest." What she was doing was agreeing that if I wasn't there they couldn't release my husband. When I got home the hospital did call and Isaidto the nurse, "This call is being recorded for training purposes for the publicto direct them to proper channels of Channel 11 news if they don't receive good medical care! As soon as I said that and clicked on my tape recorder she hung up! I must admit, althoughsaddened at my husband's condition I had a good laugh at getting back to the same garbage most of us hear every day of our lives (taping this call for training purposes.) It works both ways! When something is worth while you NEVER give up and this is my husband's life and no blasted hospital or government policies are standing in my way! Although exhausted (not one bit frightened and fighting mad) I feel I made an excellent decision.

The direct answer to the question is that the Dred Scott decision was good for slave owners. In a larger sense it was not good at all. The decision by the US Supreme Court was more important to the United States than it was to slave holder Dred Scott. This was so because in an 1857 Supreme Court decision, slaves in the United States, whether in bondage or freed men & women, could never be US citizens. This decision was a setback for the antislavery abolitionists and a victory of sorts for slave owners. Taken in its totality it was a setback for the United States as a whole. The above answer is correct, however, if there was "good" in the Dredd Scott decision it was that the US Supreme Court made it clear what its position on slavery was. Thereby giving opponents of slavery ground to stand on in their efforts to limit or abolish slavery.
I believe that William H. Seward's decision was a good decision because he helped and did good things in Alaska and it became a source of valuable Natural Resources such as fur, timber, and minerals.
