Evaluate the reliability of several TV weathermen. This is really easy, it's a great reason to plop down in front of the TV every day, and it can have a great pay-off. -- Every day for 30 days, watch the 6:00 local news on TV, on all of your local channels. -- Keep a record of the high and low temperatures that the weatherman predicts on each channel. -- From the newspaper, get the actual official high-temp and low-temp for the day each TV weatherman predicted it for. -- At the end of the 30 days, compile the statistics for each TV weatherman: how many times he predicted the correct/incorrect high temp, how many times he predicted the correct/incorrect low temp, how many times his forecast was too high, how many times it was too low, how MANY degrees he missed it by, etc. You could even come up with a bunch of snazzy graphs, if you're good with Excel or colored markers. You definitely also want to send your report to the TV station whose weatherman turns out to be the most reliable according to your project data. There's even a good chance they may call you and do a story about you, maybe even have you on TV.
Here are some examples:

An investigatory project could involve trying to figure the causal relationship between two things. For example, one could investigate whether pollution from a farm is causing health problems in people leaving in nearby neighborhoods.
The best title for your project is one that encapsulates what your project is about. It should be short, but still memorable. A good title sets the tone for an entire project, so be sure to spend some good time on coming up with a title.

An example of an investigatory project is experimenting with dominoes to test out the speed of them falling. Another good one is testing paintball shots to see what influence them.
Good dichotomous keys.
Either easy or good. The two don't fit.

I suggest "displacement and distance".
You can get a good investigatory project by visiting your school library and sampling through the available projects. You can also get recommendations from your teachers and friends.
