It would be a "population"

An "ecosystem" involves different organisms in the same place.

A "colony" is a specific term for specific types of organisms. You might have a colony of ants or bats, but not a colony of ferns or fungi (or bears, for that matter). "Colony" seems to be a less well-defined term.
