It's a well that a man or men have dug by hand. The last one I saw was dug by 2 brothers in their teens in 1948. It was 4 feet wide and went down 36 feet. When I worked on their third pump, they were still active in their mid 70's and told me it took them and their father almost 6 months to dig - hauling up the dirt by a simple hand winch ! -It kept a farm going for 56 years.
