A smaller version of a document is called a portable document. This will allow small changes to be made to the document without changing the entire document.

To put an image in an HTML document, first upload the image to a web server somewhere. Then, copy the URL of the document. Finally, place the following code into the HTML document: <image src="PASTE URL HERE" />
InDesign has you "Place" an image on a page, creating a link to an external image. It's equivalent to "Get Picture" in QuarkXPress). Images can also be embedded.
In Photoshop go to Image > Image Size.

"scaeenshot" is not a document type. If you have mad a screenshot with the <Prt Scn> key on your keyboard, the image is in the computer's working memory and you can paste it into a document (word or other, or open an image manipulation program such as MSPaint and past it in there. You should save the document/image before editing in case you want to make other changes later.
You can't convert an image file into a word file however you can embed an image file inside a word document. To do this simply drag and drop the image into a blank document and save it. Alternatively use the insert from the menus.

To put a jpeg into a word document you need to open a new word document or the document that you would like your jpeg to be placed on. Then go to insert> picture> from file> then choose file and insert. You can edit your image (ie, change the size or layout) by double clicking on the image.
