Why is Ukraine so important to Russia?

Mainly for two reasons: 1) Ukraine is the capital of the ancestral part of the Kieven Rus Empire of 1000 yrs ago before the Mongolian Asiatic horde invaded and threw the entire Rus Empire into divided sates of Muscovy, Byelo-Rus and Ukraina. Many Moscovite ppl have a strong sentimental attachment to Ukraina as being the origins of the Russian Orthodox Religion that was brought over to the Rus Empire from the Byzantium Empire by St.Cyril & St. Methododius. 2) Ukraina was always known as the bread basket of Europe for it's fertile grounds for growing vegetables and grains while Northern Moscovy was always a cold and barren land that needed Ukraina for survival. Ukraina also was rich in other mineral deposits and energy sources. But, I do not know how true that is today since the Moscovites under the Soviet banner have raped and pilaged Ukraina for 100 yrs now. Focusing on modern day, Moscovites want Ukraina to be joined with them and Byelo-Rus for the return of the glorious Rus empire, just for sentmental reasons and because energy pipelines run through Ukraina into Europe - it's all economics for the Moscovite Oligarchs and the Bratva Cartel.

Is Russia an Asian country?

Both. West of the Ural Mountains, Russia is European; east of the Urals is Asia.____________________________________________________________________-Let's analyze...........Land areathe European side of the nation constitute only 40% of the total land area of Russia, which makes the nation more AsianPopulationBut on the other hand 78% of the total population lives in the European side making the Asian population a minorityCultureSince the early Moscovite, theses inhabitant embraced the Byzantine-Roman Culture and Christianity. this added influence to their culture thus making them Europeans. But on the other hand Muscovites never exemplified other European Culture, it only came when Peter the Great reformed the Russian tradition.HistoryEver since its early years, Russia was never Asian, as the Grand Dutchy of Muscovy covers the western portion, even in history, government (tsardom, Marxism) Russia shows European attributes. the Asian side only came when Peter the Great conquered it and Catherine the Great of Russia expanded the Empire even up to the Americas (Alaska). It also had closer ties with the European (ex. with England, Austria, Prussia and Germany in the Napoleonic Wars, its relationship with Austria-Hungary and The German Empire before WWI and its inclusion with WWI and WWII especialy against Hitler's Nazi Germany) than its Asian counterpart.ConclusionRussians show more Euro than Asian_____________Ryku34

Why do some people refuse to accept that Arabs are recent immigrants to Palestine?

It depends on what a person means by "recent". Arabs have been the majority ethnic group in Palestine for 800 years prior to the Arab-Israeli War of 1948-9. That is longer than Whites have been the majority ethnic group in any part of the Americas, longer than Christians have controlled Seville, Spain, and longer than the entire history of the Russian and Moscovite Countries. There is history to back up this assertion. If the question is using the term recent to refer to "since the Jewish forced expulsion" nearly 2000 years ago, there are those who discuss the nature of Arabization. Arabs never defined themselves by skin color or region of origin, but by cultural norms, especially speaking Arabic. Therefore, a person could "become an Arab" in much the same way that a person can have a naturalized citizenship, although the conversion would be a complete mental shift. As a result, the people whose descendants would be considered and considered themselves as Arabs were themselves not Arabs, but Phoenicians, Nabateans, former Israelites, Arameans, etc. These people lived contemporaneously with the Jews in the region of Palestine. There are those who consider the Arabs of the Upper Middle East to merely be a new identification of these former people who took on Arab customs and language and therefore became identified as Arabs by the 1200s CE. People make the second argument for several reasons. First, they consider the relabeling of an ethnicity insufficient to revoke a historical claim that a group has to a piece of land. Second, they wish to extend the historicity of the current Palestinians so as to counter the Jewish "we were here first" argument.
