Years ago, in addition to movie posters Studios would send along "lobby cards" which were still photographs of scenes from the movie, usually with a description of the scene and the movie. Theaters would then display them in the lobby as a way to advertise an upcoming or currently playing movie.

They where displayed behind glass (in de windows)at the cinema's, they are in sets of 7,8, 12 and 15 some sets are numbered. Mostly pinned or on the corners stapels unfortunaly

Also many times stills get used, of stills the difference is that many hundreds are produced.
