Advantages of a pH meter:

  • it gives a more precise answer
  • it is easier to interpret the result immediately as you don't have to compare it with a chart.
  • they are easier to interpret in coloured solutions.
  • they can be connected to a data logger to give a picture of the pH over time.
Disadvantages:
  • pH meters are expensive
  • they are not always easy to use and require experience.

pH paper shows the different pHs on the scale from 1-14 while litmus paper only shows whether it's an acid or base
