To fill up space with no audio and just complete blackness, first move the playhead to the desired section (and if necessary, if it is in the middle of a clip do the Command + T keyboard shortcut and deselect all clips). Then, use the arrow keys and hit the right arrow key to move all audio and video clips to the right to take up space. To make one frame stretch on and on, move the playhead to desired location, right mouse click the playhead on a frame, and then click 'create still frame'. This frame will be 5 seconds long and in the Clips section. Do this multiple times to make it stretch for longer than 5 seconds.
