Pyroclastic flows are dangerous. They can travel down slope at over 150 mph, somtimes much faster if propelled by a lateral blast. Temperatures inside the flows are often over 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit. Anyone caught in one of these will burn to death.

A pyroclastic flow is an flow of superheated ash, often the result of a eruption column collapsing under gravity.

Pyroclastic flows can be several 100s degrees centigrade and travel very fast ( 10s metres per second in some cases) over all types of land and sea and jump over hills up cliffs destroying everything in their path.

A pyroclastic flow is and very hot, fast-moving mass of ash, rock, and gas that moves down the sides of a volcano. Pyroclastic flows move too fast for people to evacuate and anyone caught in one will almost certainly burn to death. The force of these flows can level concrete buildings.
