a rain shadow is an area of a land that is on the leeward side of a mountain which does not receive enough amount of precipitation.
IDK HOW IT AFFECTS INTERIOR REGIONS!!
Leeward - the moisture gets wrung out on the windward side when the air is forced to rise and cool and condense into clouds and precipitation. There isn't much left for the leeward side, particularly given that the air tends to sink.

The Andes are the second tallest mountain range on Earth. Together, the mountains block warm moist air from the east, forcing the rain out of it before the air passes to the west side of the mountains. It is not a single mountain, but all the mountains together that are responsible for the rain shadow.
Saturn, where it generates heat as it falls downward.
Because they are rain shadow regions.

Some mountain ranges block the flow of moisture from reaching the interior of a continent. The mountains force the humid air upward on the windward side of the mountain causing the rain to fall on that side and leaving little moisture to fall on the leeward side forming a rain shadow desert. See the diagram above.

what is a rain shadow area?
a rain shadow is when a mountain blocks rain from that isolated area
Mountain ranges can block the flow of moisture from crossing into the interior of a continent. The rain is forced to fall on the windward side of the mountains and little moisture falls on the leeward side and causes a rain shadow desert to form. See the above diagram.
Death Valley is a rain shadow desert in the U.S. It is in the rain shadow effect of the Sierra Nevada mountain range.
