There has been word in some jungles that certain types of monkeys that eat small pebbles to help with the digestion of vegetation, have consumed so much rock that they seem to take on a more rock like appearance. Large Grey dry areas of skin and scabs form over the body due to the build up of minerals and hair loss is common due to this. These rare animals were thought to be a new species by the locals and began to worship the creatures as Rock-Monkeys i.e. Runkey's.
These animals began to adapt to these changes to their bodies and have become in general quicker, stronger and more violent towards anything that enters their territory, so much so that a saying spread within local communities that 'If you see a Runkey, Its already too late'. Although there has never been photographic evidence of such animals it is widely belived that they do infact exist and possess super-natural strenth, speed and agility despite there obvious debilitation in movement that the mineral scabs create. Some speculation still concerns the mating of such animals. The suggestion that these animals can infact repoduce with 'any' species or even inanimate objects was obviously rejected by all but a few scietists but recently it has come back into consideration as sightings of even stranger animals that have charactaristics of both the 'Runkey' and another animals such as a native large cat, have apparently been sighted. The process in which this could happen has been disupted but the leading theory is that the process is similar to the way that the 'Alien' creatures repoduce in the popular film "Alien" by implanting an embryo type creature into an animal and that adports certain traits of the host's DNA. Of course all is still unproven and will probably remain so but the stories of locals stur up some interesting points of dicussion.
