The keys to humor I have found are the correct uses of Irony, uniqueness, timing and the understanding of your surroundings. For example, irony makes people think irregularly and it skews with what should actually happen. Its funny because a human would never sniff a dogs butt although a dog would d…o just the opposite. Uniqueness is what makes your 'funny' worth listening to. Something is funny the first time, but it loses its flavor after the eighteenth time. Timing allows for a joke to be enjoyed, it also gives you a window in which a specific comment could be called funny. Missing the fulcrum of a situations humoristic qualities can cost you a joke. Understanding your surroundings is probably one of the more important ones. Say for example you tell a child about your experience with a date that went horribly- so much that its definitely something to laugh about. Most of what you say with go: neeeeerrrrrrrrr, right over their heads. Also, if you don't know when something is funny or exactly how something is funny then your execution will suffer tremendously. Humorous Satires: How is the mind, and so is the song. Humour is something born with us, a built-in faculty by which we please the world. A humorous poem is not meant for us to laugh, but for the world to laugh heartily. It is meant to lead the world through laughter to serious and lofty thoughts. …Every kind of degeneration is something to laugh at. So naturally every humorous poem would invariably be describing some kind of degeneration in human mind or society. And it is a dangerous business too- this calling everything in it's right name. Lord Halifax has once observed that a man who calls everything in it's right name will never cross the street without being knocked down as a common enemy. Only if we dare and have an amusing and humorous mind can we write a humorous poem. Reading John Dryden's Mac Flecknoe and Alexander Pope's Imitations Of Horace will give an idea about how humorous satires would be. Read Ogden Nash for a lighter take on humor in poetry. In this paraphrased account, Nash had to decide early on if he was going to strive to be a serious poet, or if he was going to continue in his funny and satyrical style. He concluded that if he strove to be a serious he would end up as a bad great poet. He opted instead to become a great bad poet. It is to our great good fortune that he didn't do this by going to work for Hallmark. ( Full Answer )

Identify the plot, characters, theme, setting, narrator and narrative style, and writing style of the poem. . Any of the above is a potential starting point for a story however the two most important facets are plot and characters and you should start with the intention of bringing them in soon. . … Plot starts with a conflict, progresses to a crisis, reaches a climax, and then has a resolution. So do everything necessary to set-up a credible plot, apply it to characters then quickly and concisely bring on the conflict and start building towards the crisis. . Try to retain the same narrator and if possible his narrative style. . Try and retain the same setting. . Theme and writing style would be the best to abandon if such a sacrifice is to be made. example: There was a young man from Peru Who found a large fly in his stew. Said the waiter 'Don't shout and wave it about or the rest will be wanting one too.' Don Pedro de la Mariacaosi stopped halfway in the double swinging doors and surveyed the restaurant interior with a cold, steady eye. A humble joint indeed, one might even be inclined to say mean, perhaps even dirty - but then 'sweets to the sweet' and such a place suited the dusty traveler well enough..... ( Full Answer )

Hmmm... Well, there aren't that many, but some complete humorous mangas would be most likely something by Clamp, such as Xxxholic and Cardcaptor Sakura, or perhaps something by Arina Tanemura (Arina Tanemura's manga's not shonen, though). Try looking around. I always find it more fun if the series i…sn't complete, but that's just me. If you're planning on reading online, series such as D. N. Angel (I know, it's romantic, but the main character's a boy and it's amazingly funny) and Kekkaishi (In my opinion, the best shonen) will probably be finished, but I don't know for sure because I don't want to know the ending.
