What is a turning point?

There can be many definitions for the term, "turning point," depending upon the context of its usage. You can get several definitions by using a search engine. Usually, turning point means when an action or an event takes a turn for the better or for the worse, or changes direction. For example--"With the bases loaded, the pitcher struck out the next three men he faced. That was the turning point in the game." Or,---a major victory over a foe in a war could be a "turning point" because it enabled one side to win and the other to lose.
