A twonie is a Canadian Two Dollar coin. It has a polar bear on one side and the Queen's picture on the other side.

The name Twonie comes from what the Canadians call their one dollar coin, A Loonie which has the Loon on the back side of the coin.

So since it's a two dollar coin they combined Two and Loonie and came up with twonie.

What is a 2000 Canadian 'twonie' worth?

It's a standard circulation coin worth face value only.

I would like to know the value of a 1987 loonie a 1996 toonie a 1985 silver dollar silver 1965 50 cent 1975 twenty five pc1988 soiree dollars a 1983 dollar?

I had to seriously modify your question for searchability. In particular, a loonie IS a dollar and a twonie IS $2 so a "$2 twonie" is like saying "a round circle" or "a triangle with 3 sides", LOL! Anyway, the loonie and twonie are both circulation coins that are worth face value only. I'm assuming the remainder of your coins are also Canadian so I'm going to point you to the site http://www.pcfleet.com/Coinclub/Canada/Can_coins-en.htm as a source of value guides

What is the value of a 2dollar 1996 elizabethII dg Regina?

You didn't state which country it's from, but the most common $2 coin in the British Commonwealth is the Canadian "twonie". That would make it an ordinary circulation coin worth face value only, somewhere around $1.70 U.S. depending on the current exchange rate.

Is the Canadian 2 dollar coin real?

It's extremely real. In fact it's a regular circulation coin used in daily commerce. It replaced the $2 bill in the 1990s. Because the $1 coin features a loon (bird) it's popularly called a "loonie", so many Canadians refer to the $2 coin as a "twonie"

What is loony and tuney in Canada?

Loony= 1 Dollar Coin Tuney= 2 Dollar Coin =============== A few decades ago, Canada stopped printing and circulating one- and two-dollar bills, and replaced them with coins. The first to go was the dollar bill. It was replaced by an eleven-sided, gold-coloured coin, a little larger than a fifty-cent piece. The one-dollar coin bears a profile likeness of Her Majesty The Queen on one side, and that of a common loon on the other. The coin quickly became affectionally known as the loonie/loony/looney. (There is no 'official' spelling of it.) The pronunciation of it was originally intended as an 'editorial comment' about the decision by the government of the day to eliminate the dollar bill. The two-dollar bill was replaced a while later by a quite attractive two-dollar coin. It is slightly larger than the one-dollar coin, and actually consists of two separate pieces of metal. A gold coloured piece roughly the size of a dime is surrounded by a silver coloured ring. Again, Her Majesty's likeness appears on one side and that of a polar bear on the other. The two-dollar coin quickly became known as the twonie/tooney/tunie, etc. (Likewise, there is no 'official' spelling of it.) The loonie and the twonie are rhyming words. They are reminiscent of the Warner Bros. animated cartoon series, 'Looney Tunes.' The term 'Looney Tunes' came to be applied, inappropriately, to people experiencing some mental difficulties or limitations. The loonie and the twonie were frequently used together in that way, again in snide reference to the government.

1996 canada 2 dollar coin worth?

The current exchange rate is almost exactly 1 to 1. Except, of course, that hardly anyone in the U.S. would accept a "twonie" in change ... maybe some stores near the border where the two countries' coins tend to co-circulate, that's about all.
