CPU speed is measured in megahertz MHz and gigahertz GHz. Your typical processor is going to be in GHz if you have a super computer then it will be in MHz. The CPU speed can be deceiving so make sure you do your research on them.
Hey im Actually building a gaming rig for 1,400 dollars and it competes with the super nice 6-7 thousand dollar computers! FOR REAL the on i will be using is the Intel i-5-760 it was recently like 500 or something outrageous but its 209 right now and when im done over clocking the mess out of it it will do 4ghz!
Smartphone, 200mhz - 1200 mhz
Tablet, 500 mhz - 1600 mhz
Netbook, 1.2 ghz - 1.8 ghz
Notebook, 1.8 ghz - 2.9 ghz
Multimedia/Gaming Laptop, 2.5 ghz - 3.5 ghz

A CPU or Central Processing Unit is generally what is meant by the term microprocessor. Sometimes microprocessor can refer to additional hardware, but by and large, CPU = microprocessor.
CPU, which stands for Central Processing Unit. Intel is probably the worlds largest producer of CPUs, which are now used in both PCs and Apple Mac computers. The term CPU is also sometimes used to refer to the whole computer case containing the CPU and other components.

cache
overclocking
CacheActually, that's not correct. Cache Memory may be on the same die (and, thus, comes in the package most people refer to) as the CPU , but it is not really part of the CPU.The correct term for memory that is an integrated part of the actual CPU is 'register'.
Because the term speed implies a continuous flow, while the term frequency implies a digital or binary flow.
The faster the CPU can push data around the motherboard is mesured as a frequency
