A vasectomy is a way of sterilization by butting and sealing off each vas deferens.
A vasectomy is a simple surgical procedure that makes a man incapable of causing pregnancy. In the male reproductive system, there are two small tubes called the vas deferens that the sperm travel through during intercourse. During the procedure these two tubes are cut which will make it impossible for the sperm to travel. This procedure can be done in a doctor’s office and a local anesthetic will be used. Once the area is numb, a small hole will be placed in one side of the scrotal sac and then the doctor will cut the vas deferens tube on that side. Small clamps will be used to keep the two ends from growing back together. The opposite side will then be done in the same manner. The hole is so small that no stitches should be required. On the day of the surgery, make sure that the area is clean, It is suggested that someone be available to drive the patient home after the procedure. After the surgery, there may be bruising or pain, but these symptoms should subside within the following weeks.
The vasectomy procedure does not work immediately. There will still be sperm in the vas deferens and ejaculation will be necessary quite a few times to clear the tubes. Some form of birth control should still be used until the doctor states that sperm samples are sperm free. This could take three months or more. Once the sperm have no path out of the body, the body will start to create fewer sperm and reabsorb the ones that are made. A vasectomy should in no way alter or change a man’s sex life. Once the area is completely healed, all sexual activities should return to normal, minus the secretion of sperm.
Before the surgery is done, make sure that this option is absolutely what is desired. A vasectomy can attempt to be reversed, but it is expensive and not usually covered by insurance companies. Even after a reversal surgery, there is no guarantee that fertilization of an egg by the sperm will be possible.
Vasectint is a surgical procedure to sever the vas deferens so that no sperm is present in the ejaculate.
