Atoms...Not quite, the atom is split into many other parts;

  • Protons
  • Neutrons
  • The quark family; Up, down, charm, strange, top and bottom...
  • The lepton family; Electrons, electron neutrinos, muons, muon neutrinos, tau and tau neutrinos....

Then there are the bosons,some of which are the forces holding these particles together - the weakforce, the strong force, the gluons and the photons.

As you can see, particle physics is a massively complex subject, and partly the reason why outrageously expensive experiments such the the LHC at CERN in Geneva take place. Contact me if you need any more help... but if this is for basic secondary school science, all you need to know is;
