Apprentices have the suffix -paw added to their first name, which stays with them throughout their lives.
(i.e. Pinekit, Pinepaw, Pineneedle)

The next rank up from apprentice in the Warrior Cats series is a warrior. Warriors have completed their apprenticeship training and are now full members of their Clan, allowed to take on more responsibilities and join hunting and border patrols.

Well it doesn't really matter, when the mentor thinks his/her apprentice is ready they consult the leader and they have the warrior cerimony. Although they do have to have hunting and fighting tests.
