Manipulation of a woman's clitoris would be one example. Performing a pelvic exam for which there is no medical need is another. Cupping, fondling, kneading, or pinching a woman's breasts is yet another.
If a Doctor says to the patient , " If you don't lie still, we will have to hold you down." And if the patient believes this will cause him or her harm, it is considered a tort of assault in medical practice. Here, the intention of the Doctor is not to cause any harm to the patient but to treat him properly. But the way of talking to the patient sounds assault.
It is an example of a "crime against persons."
It may depend on the TYPE of assault being referred to. While Simple Assault is not, a Sexual Assault, or an Assault W/I to Kill (for example) certainly would be.
An example of a quack doctor is the faith healer.
So-called "Simple Assault" would be a good example.
The crime of assault is not made any more serious or any less serious if your victim happens to be a doctor. It is generally illegal to assault people and depending upon how much injury the assault causes, serious jail time may result. The only special danger involved in assaulting a doctor might be that if you get a reputation for being hostile to doctors, they may not want to accept you as a patient in the future, if you need medical care. Even then, most doctors do not let their feelings get in the way of treating patients.
