What is an example of rainforest competition and cooperation?

Leaf cutter ants live underground in the rainforest and have a mutualistic relationship with a fungus there. The ants cut the chunkc of leaves from trees even though they cannot actually digest the plant matter. They bring this plant matter back to the nest and cultivate a fungus. The fungus is fed by the plant matter from the ants, and in turn it provides food for the ants.

• when monkeys compete for better trees with the most fruit
• humans tearing down trees VS all of the animals that make their homes in the trees

In the tropical rainforest many of the animals are independent, therefore cooperation and competition doesn't occur frequently. The result of this is that if one species of animal goes away or becomes extinct, it can cause other species to suffer.
