When using a force to move an object across a distance...it produces an acceleration. If you are looking for the force, you must first find the acceleration. a=F/M

Once you have found the acceleration then you can find the force.

F=ma ( force =mass x acceleration)

That requires energy. Because energy is transferred, scientists also talk about "work".

Work! Work is equal to the product of force and distance: W = F x D

Force and distance are inversely proportional. This is why we use stairs instead of ladders, have multiple speed transmissions in cars, and use crowbars and wheelbarrows; the force required to do a set amount of work is decreased if the distance traveled is increased.

Everything needs force to move at all. It's Newton's first law. An object in rest tends to stay in rest while an object in motion tends to stay in motion unless acted on by an external unbalanced force. Meaning that if no forces were in contact with the object such as gravity, friction, ect. and the object was not moving it would continue to not move. Same thing with moving objects, they will never stop moving in that exactly direction and at that exact speed.

What is the relationship between the force and distance?

The product of force times the distance the force was directed in, is called "work".The relationship between distance and force is that, when using a simple machine, to move an object it requires less force to move an object a farther distance when using a simple machine than moving an object without a simple machine. The relationship between distance and force is that, when using a simple machine, to move an object it requires less force to move an object a farther distance when using a simple machine than moving an object without a simple machine.Addition: "Using a Force (y-axis) over Distance (x-axis), the Work done can be estimated by calculating the area under the graphed line." -Arian.

What is the science definition of work?

Using a force to move an object a distance.

How much work is done to push an object 5 meters using 100N of force?

Work = force x distance. Answer is in joules.

Can a lever multiply distance?

A lever is a simple machine that allows mechanical force to be exerted using a varying distance. Typically, the lever allows the use of a smaller force across a greater distance in the place of a larger force over a smaller distance.

How does a knife change the force or the distance?

The object's mass and weight determines the force and distance, the greater the force, the less distance it covers. However, when a knife cuts the object, it covers less force and more distance.

When a mechanic increases the force acting on an object what happens to the distance the object moves?

When the Force increases on an Object, the Distance it travels INCREASES, as does its Velocity.

The advantage of using an inclined plane to lift an object is that it reduces the?

What is something done when a force moves an object a distance?

Work is something that is done when a force moves an object over a distance.

Force is applied to an object and the object is moved over a distance in the same direction of the applied force is the definition of?

What object can move with least force to move a distance of 5 meters?

There is no fundamental relationship between the distance an object moves and the force applied to it. Once an object is moving, no force is required to keep it moving, and the distance it can move without applied force is unlimited.
