Light waves are energy, and are a form of electromagnetic radiation. That makes them similar to radio waves (which have a lower frequency) and X-rays (which have a higher frequency).
Heat and radio waves are both examples of infrared radiation. They are not perfect synonyms, however. Long wave electromagnetic radiation. The deep end of the electromagnetic spectrum. Deep red emissions.

another name for heat rays is called infrared rays
Another name for it is heat
it is heat
Infrared radiation is part of the electromagnetic spectrum, which includes radio waves, microwaves, visible light, ultraviolet, X rays and gamma rays. Infrared radiation has longer wavelengths than the red part of the visible spectrum (hence the name infrared for below red) and is invisible to the human eye. However humans do sense infrared as heat. So when you are warming yourself on a cold day with a roaring fire or hands around a hot drink it is the infrared radiation you are feeling.
The term was coined in 1882, meaning "under red" as in "below the color red's spectrum".
what are the manin uses of infrared. in analytical chemistry
Some night vision goggles detect the infrared signatures of people and objects. Heat travels from a fireplace as infrared radiation.
The infrared ray was discovered in 1800 by Sir William Herschel
Heat.
Radiative heat loss.
INFRARED RADIATION is also referred to as Heat Radiation.
Infrared radiation, infrared, heat radiation.

furnaces
In one way or another, Infrared cannot be controlled, I say this because if you expose something to Infrared for too long, that thing could burn. Therefore Infrared is too intense, to defrost food (a delicate thing). This is most probably why Infrared would not be good for defrosting food.
You can send files and music from one phone to another in the space of two minutes with just putting the two phones together and turn the infrared button on.
Greenhouse effect
There are a lot of things that infrared lights are used for, primarily sight enhacements. Just to name a few, infrared lights are used for night vision, thermography, hyperspectral imagery, tracking, and heating.
