well the Australians call it a willy willy or it could be named a tropical storm.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not a 'willy willy' is a whirlwind - similar to but NOT the same as a Tornado. whirlwinds and tornadoes are NOT hurricanes, cyclones or typhoons.

Hurricanes, Cyclones and Typhoons are weather systems hundreds of miles across (tropical storms). Tornadoes are structures formed within just one cloud. Whirlwinds are not associated with clouds at all, they result from processes happening on the surface of the ground and again are small.

Hurricanes are called typhoons when they occur in the western Pacific. The generic term of a hurricane is tropical cyclone.

Tornadoes can also be called twisters. Some people also (incorrectly) call them cyclones.

There is no word for both, as tsunamis and hurricanes are two completely different things. Hurricanes can be called tropical cyclones, and in the western Pacific are called typhoons. Tsunamis are sometimes called tidal waves, but this usage is incorrect as tsunamis are not related to the tides.
