It is a condition where the diameter of an artery becomes less over time as fatty deposits of plaque are deposited along it's surface. Eventually the artery can become entirely blocked causing the flow of blood to stop. A high cholesterol diet is a usual suspect in this type of disease as this directly contributes to Atherosclerosis.

This can restrict blood flow and increase the risk of heart attacks and strokes. Lifestyle changes and medication are often recommended to manage atherosclerosis.
