HP envy is way better not only can you get one cheaper but it has windows 7 on it, which is faster, more compatible...well out and out better then the apple operating system. No wonder Microsoft has 85 percent of the market
The Envy. For the price, you get newer technology (Corei7) and more processing power. But the MacBook range is about to be updated any day now so it may be worth hanging on to see what the new ones offer.
i say the macbook pro. as the proud owner of a macbook pro (leopard) and the formerly semi-proud owner of an hp w/ XP, i can safely say that i'd personally jump for the macbook pro

HP envy is a good laptop with its beats sound system, i7 processor and up to 18inch display. a macbook pro will be good as well with the retina display and its advanced graphics.

There is a range of MacBook Pro models so it depends what you are looking for. In general something like the HP Envy laptop range (See links below) could be compared to the MacBooks. Although the HPs cost more and you have to suffer the Windows operating system.
