depends on your viewpoint and what is important to you. One can make an arguement for all three
Manual labor
A manual system analysis require individuals to supply input directly into a system designed to simulate real life events. An automated system is controlled by technology to automatically supply input.
Although I think the overall effect of technology is good, there are clearly dangers and drawbacks. Every new technology breeds unanticipated or unwanted side effects. For instance, the Industrial Revolution, while reducing manual labor in the long run, had and still has many negative consequence, such as pollution, child labor, and sweatshop conditions. Interestingly, public concerns about nuclear power have gone the other way though. When nuclear power was first developed, most people embraced the new technology until they became more aware of the potential hazards.

Pretty subjective question without more definition. Hydraulic or electric work well but are expensive. Manual can do the job it some circumstances.
Yes, manual is better than automatic gears.
depends; automatics are convenient and easier to drive but manual transmissions get better fuel mileage than an automatic. It depends on the way a person drives and where they drive. If you drive in backed up traffic a automatic would be better. But if you drive on open country roads with few stop signs a manual would better. If you are skilled driver a manual would be better. But if you are not a skilled driver or a new driver a automatic would better.
Manual has better pull power.

better gas mileage
My friend has completed both Air Alert and Jump Manual and according to him Jump Manual yield results.....
There is not better. They both serve the same purpose. To transfer power from the engine to the drive wheels. Manual transmissions are not for everyone. It takes some skill and practice to be proficient at using the manual. In the past most vehicles would get better mileage with a manual but today the difference is not as much on modern automatics. A vehicle equipped with a manual is cheaper to purchase and cheaper to repair. So there are pros and cons to both. The choice is yours.
