Body language is saying things without words. For example, when you are angry, you frown or stand a certain way. When you are shy, you cross your arms in front of you.
In theater and drama, it is used to convey the mood and emotion with subtlety. Rarely do you see someone in a drama go "I'm angry!" You'll frequently see them hear news and take a step back, have their body clench up, etc. That's body language, sharing and conveying something without announcing it aloud.
