Why do clothes sometimes smell bad?

Human sweat/perspiration is odourless when liquid. . However, once it dries and oxidises it gains an odour., which can cling to clothes, and makes them smell bad. To remove this odour, prior to washing, rinse the clothes in a solution of washing soda ( soda crystals; sodium carbonate ; Na2CO3). Washing soda has, amongst other things, the effect of killing smells. Once rinsed in washing soda, then wash in the normal way in a washing machine, with the usual washing machine detergent. NB Washing soda will not remove or discolour clothes.

How do you clean a smelly washing machine?

Buy Affresh, it is sold at most supermarkets. 3 large tablets to a pack. I placed 2 tablets in the washing machine and ran thru the washing cycle using HOT water. If you have time you can let the machine agitate for about 5 minutes and stop the cycle letting the Affresh work by soaking for about an hour and than turn the machine back on. This will disolve the built up soap scum causing the smell. Repeat using the other Affresh tablet. If the soap scum is really bad let the Affresh work overnight and use the rinse cycle the next morning. Worked for me.

Washing machine smells like burning rubber and leaks water?

There are many reasons why the washing machine smells burnt during operation. So, sometimes an unpleasant smell comes from new machines during the first few washes. Plastic and some parts of the machine, when heated, may emit an unpleasant door at first. If after several washes the smell has not disappeared, it may be a factory defect When a machine that has already been in operation suddenly starts to smell burnt, the cause may be the failure of the module or a violation of the contacts on it. The smell of burning can appear when the so-called "pill" burns out - the details of the car's door lock. The following causes of an unpleasant door are malfunctions in the operation of the heating element, failure of the pump or power supply. The source of burning may be a short circuit when water gets from the hose to the engine wiring. The smell of burnt rubber appears when the belt of the washing machine is frayed.
