the charge of a lightning is positive and negative. The positive is on the top of a lightning cloud and the negative is surrounded on the bottom. As it flashes down it is a negative. However, the ground is a positive charge so as it reaches down, it turns into a positive charge. I hope this will answer you question

Is lightning AC or DC voltage?

Lightning is static electricity. It's a buildup of charge, and it is facilitated by charge separation. In that light, it is DC.

The charge separates.

Is it true that Lightning results from an accumulation of electrostatic charge.?

Yes, that's basically what lightning is about - a discharge of this accumulated charge.

What is the lightning between clouds?

Lightning is just really large static. Lightning between clouds is called cloud lightning or sheet lightning and is caused when one cloud has an excessive charge and another cloud has an excessive amount of the opposite cloud. The lightning is used to relieve the clouds charge.

When lightning strikes a lightning rod Where is the last place the charge flows?

A lightning rod is grounded, meaning it connects to the ground, and the ground is the last place the charge flows to. It is absorbed into the planet Earth.

Do people who have been struck by lightning carry an electrical charge and can they be touched?

People who have been struck by Lightning does not carry a residual charge. Lightning goes straight through the body and into the ground. There would be no electrical charge left and they would be safe to touch.

What happens when lightning strikes the ground?

I read a book by an electrical engineer who said, "When lightning strikes the earth. there is a positive charge in the earth from which sends runners up toward the base of a cumulonimbus cloud which has a negative charge. The negative charge sends out runners toward the runners of positive charge. When the two charges meet, the lightning charge goes toward the earth and the result is a bolt of lightning.
