Hanukkah is a Jewish holiday that lasts for eight days and commemorates the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem. It is also known as the Festival of Lights, where a special menorah called a Hanukkiah is lit each night to celebrate the miracle of one day's worth of oil lasting for eight days. During Hanukkah, fried foods like latkes (potato pancakes) and sufganiyot (jelly-filled donuts) are also traditionally consumed.
