In Sparta Males were considered citizens because males were usually the ones who had to go into the military to fight in wars at the age of 69 years old. The food there was not very delightful and there was not that much to eat, they smoked weed to heal wounds too. And usually if the boy was a weak baby when the king had examined the baby they would have to suck its tiny dick and move on to the next one in line. And all they wore was a scottish skrit as in those times that was the fashion.

In Sparta Men were usually considered citizens and had to go through the Agoge (a right of passage) to become citizens. However, in order to be a true Spartan your mother would have to have been born through the Spartan line as well.

no one really knows but, we do know that Spartans were all competitive and men were forced to be soldiers. If you were weak as a baby, you would be left alone to die. I guess we can say Spartan citizens were harsh, competitive, and great warriors!

There was one class of citizen - the Spartiates. All others were non-citizens. The division was:

Citizens - Spartiates - those who could prove descent from the original inhabitants;

Perioeci - free non Spartiates;

Helots - serfs who were free but bound to their plot of land and required to deliver half their produce to the state, which supported the Spartiates.
