It is a five or six numbers generated by an issuing bank, using a credit card, for the purpose of validating a credit card whenever it is approved in the sale of a service. Here the authorization code is to approve the transaction. Here i prefer virtual credit card for transactions.
1. Read your pre-authorization agreement to determine the stipulated method of canceling the authorization.2. Contact the company charging your credit card and request they stop charging you.3. If method 1 & 2 do not work contact your credit card company and tell them you have revoked authorization for the charges.4. If you are charged again, contact your credit card company and let them know the latest charge was fraudulent as you have already canceled the authorization in step 1 or 2.

Assuming that you are not a cheapskate, you will be leaving a tip. The restaurant only places the temporary authorization there to make sure enough available credit in place to cover the tip. Shortly after the credit card is closed out on their system, the authorization is removed. Usually when they batch their system (weekends can delay this).
