Is dawn of the clans the book before the clans or after the clans?

After Tigerclaw's betrayal, Bluestar is weary and cannot trust anyone except Fireheart and Whitestorm. She does not act like the wise cat she was before.

Whitethroat of ShadowClan dies when he runs into a thunderpath and gets run over/hit by a monster(car).

Runningwind of ThunderClan dies in a battle against Tigerclaw and his fellow rogues.

Cloudpaw is still living in ThunderClan, but he is sneaking off to a twoleg's nest and getting fed. He becomes rather overweight and he he doesn't realize he is breaking the warrior code by seeing the twolegs. One day, the twolegs take him away against his will.

Sandstorm, Fireheart, and Ravenpaw soon rescue Cloudpaw and bring him back to ThunderClan.

There is a huge fire in ThunderClan territory. The ThunderClan cats are forced to flee. As they get away from their burning territory, Patchpelt, Halftail, and Bramblekit are still in the burning camp so Fireheart and Yellowfang go to save them.

Fireheart and Yellowfang save Patchpelt, but Patchpelt had too much smoke in his lungs so he died. Yellowfang then tries to drag Halftail out of a den when suddenly Fireheart sees Bramblekit on a burning tree that will soon devour the kit. Fireheart saves Bramblekit instead of helping Yellowfang. He brings Bramblekit out of the camp to safety.

As he walks out of the camp, a burning tree falls on top of the spot where Yellowfand and Halftail are standing.

They take refuge in RiverClan camp. Fireheart explains Yellowfang and Halftail are missing.

After a night of being in RiverClan, they are ordered by Bluestar to go back to their camp. When they arrive, they are shocked to see it burnt and completely different. They search frantically for Yellowfang and Halftail. They find Halftail's dead body.

Fireheart finds Yellowfang in the medicine cat's den. She is still alive, but clearly has a lot of smoke in her lungs. She talks to Fireheart about how she wished Fireheart were her own son rather then Brokentail. She talks about how she doesn't care how StarClan judges her because she killed her son; she tells Fireheart she knows she will die. She also says she wished she could see what Fireheart would become.

Soon after, Yellowfang dies.

Bluestar sees the mess and all the deaths and instead of feeling sympathetic, she is angry and has a cold gaze. She tells Fireheart that she is angry with StarClan and no longer believes in them.

That same day, there is a gathering; but Bluestar doesn't want to come. Fireheart goes in her place.

"Dawn of the Clans" is a prequel series to "Warriors," which is set before the events of the main Warriors series about the Clans. It explores the origins and formation of the Clans in the forest.
